28 teams came together for the event at Builth Wells Golf Club

Friday, July 1 saw the ninth annual Charity Golf Day Competition take place, hosted by Builth Wells Rotary.

The event was held at Builth Wells Golf Club with the kind cooperation of Simon Edwards, PGA professional and manager.

The day attracted 28 teams, the majority were from Builth Wells, while the others were visiting from as far away as Wolverhampton, Welshpool and Pembrokeshire.

The aim of the day was to encourage the teams in a friendly competition for the prestige of winning a varying array of quality prizes and awards, while raising money for the nominated charities.

The competitions categories were diverse and included ‘nearest the pin’, longest drive, most unusual ball position and not forgetting ‘best dressed’.

The charities supported are Shelter Box, which provides a survival box able to sustain a family of 10 in disaster torn areas, Polio Plus, helping to eradicate polio throughout the world, as well as numerous local charities.

The success of the day relies on sponsorship from local businesses, with the main sponsor bring The Burger Manufacturing Co.Ltd. A major contributor was Howdens Joinery, along with other local sponsors, who have all been very generous again this year.

Prize-giving in the clubhouse followed a hot and tiring but immensely enjoyable day.

Thanks also to the president, John Price and all of the Rotarians who helped to support the day. The club is looking forward to next years event on July 7, 2023.
